Gangs

My AIS topic covers gangs. Im nearing the end of my book and i just wanted to comment on how different the lives of many Americans(an extreme being a mexican immigrant living in poverty like the book im reading) are compared to ours. Sex drugs and violence are the norm for a 10-13 year old growing up in east L.A. Shooting heroin and loosing your virginity at the age of 12 is hard to grasp for many of us living on the North Shore. Hopefully my interviewee will be the author of this autobiography, Luis J. Rodriguez. His chilling stories and gresuome experiences are exploited in this book for everyone to get a feeling for. A interview with Rodriguez would be extremely moving and knowledgable.

interesting... what is your why question? maybe you could relate the teenage lives of the gang members to kids on the north shore... and say why this is or how we can change this? if it can be stopped?

i mean in a sense there are "gangs" at newtrier... whether it is the jocks (football, baseball, lacrosse boys) or the preps or "nerds" why do you think America comes up with these names or protocals? or are other countries also doing this as well?
