Junior Theme so far
My junior theme is on gangs, and how they effect society and how the precautions set up to lessen gang violence(jails) actually has very little impact on gangs, and accomplishing very little in lessening gang violence and growth. Im reading the book "Always Running" its about a young man who moves to L.A. from Mexico when he is 2 years old. His families struggles and his rough childhood are obvious signs of potential necessity to join a gang. This book so far illustrates the vulnerability of poor children subjected to violence and abuse on a daily basis, and the importance of good education in a community and extracarricular activities to keep kids off the streets.

I like your topic johnny it seems like it will be exciting to research. I like how you are questioning the effectiveness of jails and how they do not really stop gang violence at all. It will be interesting to see how your thesis and paper turn out, good luck dude.
Have you seen the web page that Mrs. G is putting together for another class? - it has quite a few very good resources on Gangs:

Here's another link to something I saw yesterday on gangs -- it has to do with the North Shore and Federal involvement in this issue:

Any thoughts?
